MorphOS tým oznamuje vydání MorphOS 2.5, pátého nového OS od vydání MorphOS 2.0 a ve stejném měsíci jako před dvěma roky.

MorphOS 2.5 oficiálně podporuje hardware Apple eMac G4 1.25 GHz. Apple eMac G4 1.42 GHz nebyl otestován. Byla přidána podpora grafických karet ATI Radeon 9600 (např. v novějším eMac 1.42 GHz) a Radeon 9700, zatím ale pouze ve 2D režimu. MorphOS 2.5 dále podporuje PCI 2-port SATA řadiče s čipsetem SiI3x1x. Na Apple Mac Mini je nyní funkční ovládání hlasitosti a byla opravena detekce velikosti VRAM.

Navíc k rozšířené hardwarové podpoře mohou uživatelé těžit z různých oprav a několika nových vlastností. MorphOS 2.5 příchází s novou verzí internetového prohlížeče OWB 1.8 s podporou celoobrazovkového HTML5 videa pomocí overlay a uživatelských skriptů (podobné GreaceMonkey). Byla přidána podpora nových multimedií, archivátorů a zjednodušena podpora dalšich souborových systémů (Ext2FS, NTFS, SgiXFS jsou instalovány standardně). MorphOS 2.5 - změny na disku

Následuje (pravděpodobně nekompletní) seznam změn MorphOS komponent na disku = nejsou součástí ROM (boot.img).  Překlady se změnily pro většinu komponent, přestože to není u každí komponenty zmíněno. Navíc na různých místech byly aplikovány různé kosmetické úpravy.
